Travel to Brittany by Train
Travelling to Brittany by train is actually much easier that you might think thanks to France's excellent railway network of high speed trains (TGV) connecting the surrounding countries with its main cities and of express regional trains (TER).
Whether you land to Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport or arrive in Paris' Gare du Nord with the Eurostar from London, you will need to change to a high speed train (TGV) to reach one of Brittany's top towns:
- Paris to Nantes, 2 hours
- Paris to La Baule, 3 hours
- Paris to Rennes, 2.5 hours
- Paris to Brest, 4 hours
- Paris to Quimper, 4 hours
If your holiday destination is further afield, you will need to change at these stations for the local TER network. Remember that in France you must get your ticket validated by using one of the stand-alone orange machines as you enter the platform (marked as "Compostez votre billet"). Failure to do so, will result into a fine.
If you need a train within Brittany to travel between two cities like Nantes, Brest, Rennes, Mont Saint Michel, Roscoff, St Malo, etc, go straight to RailEurope Online Central Reservation here as our search facilily below deals with main lines only. RailEurope is part of the French Railway Company, SNCF.
To arrange your whole train travel stress free, we recommend you to book with the official European Railway Company, RailEurope, actually part of the SNCF but with a website so much easier to use than the SNCF's one ! RailEurope takes care of sourcing all your train tickets with any connection from any point of departure within Europe to your final Brittany destination.
