Best Beaches and Seaside Resorts in Brittany

Cancale

Famous for its oysters, Cancale, situated on the Northern coast, has grown into a holidaymakers resort thanks to its excellent restaurants and beautiful surroundings with stunning views across the Mont Saint Michel Bay. On its West side, you will find some very nice beaches on the coastal road to Saint Malo once you pass the Pointe du Grouin.

Saint Malo

You might better know Saint Malo on the North coast, as your ferry terminal but it has far more to offer including a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach on its eastern side which you can access straight from its walled city. So ideal to combine a bit of sightseeing of the old town followed by a dip in the sea and a sand castle competition with the kids.

Dinard

The seaside resort of Dinard in Northern Brittany is well renowned for its three beautiful beaches of fine white sand with shallow waters. The main beach has stunning views across Saint-Malo and is enclosed by magnifient villas, all extremely pretty with its white and blue striped beach tents taking you back to the "Belle Epoque" era. You will find several beach clubs for the children and a sailing club of catamarans and single handed boats.

Erquy

Erquy on the northern Emerald coast is blessed with a choice of 10 beaches. The most accessible one for families and disabled people is the 2km long beach of Caroual which offers all the facilities you would expect including beach guards in July and August, public toilets and showers, beach clubs.

Perros-Guirec

Not only Perros-Guirec is home to the beauty spot of Ploumana'ch on the Pink Granite Coast but it is also a very popular seaside resort with families in northern Brittany. Extremely well catered with beach clubs, a children watersports center, a large sailing club and plenty of beautiful fine sand to be enjoyed by everyone. Very well recommended if you are thinking of staying in this part of the region.

Trébeurden

Choice of six beaches at this very active resort on the Pink Granite coast, which three of them are popular with families with beach guards in July and August.

Bénodet

The main beach of Bénodet, Plage du Trez, is a very popular destination in South Finistère. It offers everything you would expect with a children club, public sanitary facilities including showers, beach guards in summer season and equipment hire (windsurfing boards, catamarans, etc).

Carnac

The megalithic town of Carnac on the Southern coast boots an attractive beach strech found at Carnac-Plage. At one end, watersports enthusiasts will find a very good sailing club called the "Yatch Club" while the beach is easily accessible from the promenade. Fine sand, shallow waters and proximity of the Gulf stream are just a few of the main attractions of this area.

La Baule

Named as the best beach in Europe with its 7km of fine sandy strech, the glamourous seaside resort of La Baule is located in Southern Brittany. It is a stunning beach for sunbedders and families alike. Very well equipped with several sanitary facilities, bars and cafes, beach clubs for the kids and sailing and canoes clubs. Perfect conditions for building sand castles. Every August, the neighbouring town, Pornichet, hosts a sand building competition where fantastic large scale creatures are to be admired for a week. It is our favourite beach destination also for his warm sea temperatures of 20 degree C in the summer.
