For a 5 or 10 day weather forecast including maritime weather, it is best to consult the French Weather Forecast Station, Météo France although all in French language. For a holiday weather report in English language, visit the BBC Weather (features only main towns) or MSN Weather (features main towns and the whole region as well).
With such a green countryside, you will guess that it rains a bit especially in mid seasons but it tends to clear out very quickly and the sun is out again especially by the coast. If you come across some French people labelling Brittany as a country of "bad weather", ask them where they normally live. They are probably lost Parisians in search of Mediterranean sun... After all, it is all relative to where you are coming from.
You will also find some areas with so called "micro-climate" with extremely mild weather conditions like in the Gulf of Morbihan, Ouessant Island and Bréhat Island, where some tropical plants are actually thrivering.
Thanks to the Gulf Stream and shallower depths, the sea water temperature of the Channel coast is actually higher (19-20 degree C average in summer) than in the Atlantic Ocean (17-19 degree C average in summer). However, you do have exceptions especially in the Gulf of Morbihan and in La Baule where the water temperature can go as high as 23 degree C in peak of the summer.
